Broke Out the Oils
Is there anyone besides me that dreads to paint? I mean, I actually LOVE to paint. But getting to that point is so much work. I have to dust and vacuum everything because I have a cat, and there’s no fun in endlessly picking cat hairs out of wet paint. Then once everything is sucked up, I get my painting area ready…and today I
decided to break out the Cake Tupperware so that when I squeeze out lovely, juicy, fresh paint, it might stay lovely, juicy, fresh–and most importantly–cat-hair free for as long as possible.
But opening those tubes sometimes makes me wish I was never born. One of my least favorite things to do in the world is opening containers, and somehow ironically, I was blessed to be an artist–a profession that is all about opening containers. Why couldn’t I have been a musician? Oh wait…my acoustic debut album is on its way! Wink. Wink.

Hello! I stumbled onto your site via Kitty Genius… I really love your artwork! I hear ya on the pet hair bit. Even since moving into a studio outside my home, I still sometimes find dog hair in my paint. Sigh.
Also- you seem so organized and clean with your pallete! I have pallete envy.
(tip: i keep pliers in my studio for stubborn paint tubes.- been there, done that)

I also stumbled onto your Blog through Kitty Genius (I always like to hear how people find my Blog).
I have the same problem with painting! I love the way oils look, but there is so much stuff that goes into actually painting that sometimes I lose focus on the image I’m trying to create. It’s sad when a little piece of schmutz or cat hair can hinder the creative process *sigh*
