Wood you listen up?

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

I have so much wood that I cut I don’t even know where to begin!  Saw blades and wood putty and sanding and then gessoing, and then oh yea, painting… Boy oh boy, I sure don’t know how just buying a couple sheets of wood at the hardware store turns into a…uh…oh I don’t know.  A full time job!

On the bright side, I did manage to get in a little watercolor action.  I am aching to go back because working on paper has such an instant gratification.  One really needs to balance out the long process art with the short process art.  These I am going to be scanning shortly and prints will be hatched in el shoppe!

Getting Ready for Halloween

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Well sorta.  I really want to get some Halloween things in my Etsy shop, but we’ll see.  Here’s a little glimpse of what’s to come if I don’t throw my computer and photoshop out the window. Yes, today’s been a looooooooooong day.

Sew Pretty!

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Yes, I have been using the old machine to make purty things as of late, and it feels splendidly domestic. I cut out a little pattern from paper to use for this skirt.  It just consists of 6 equal size trapezoid shapes that I sew together along with a zipper.  Fun and easy!

Here is a close-up of Lily modeling the trim. Notice the green vintage slip I repurposed here as lining. I always end up getting cotton that is sort of see-through, so it is nice to get some lining in place.

I also just hung some photos in my little sewing workspace in my office.  It’s getting darling…but don’t look at the bottom–I have not cleaned everything yet!  It’s a work in progress.

I don’t have too many pin cushions–I think just these two–but I really love these.  I would love one day to have a pin cushion collection, but I have really tamed myself in the thrifting department.  I do have an apron, vintage slip, and my cat’s whiskers collections, so I think I’m good for now.

And yes! I do go outside.  I even repotted some things yesterday before the sun started melting all of creation.
