Meet the Artists Party Tonight!

Friday, May 29th, 2009

I will be in attendance at the Huntington Beach Art Center’s Departure Benefit Auction opening tonight which will take place from 6-9 p.m.  Then after me and my friend Andrea are off to the show that my BF’s band Ignite is playing at Detroit Bar, so it’s gonna be a looooong one.

Also, just in case anyone was wondering, in between obsessing about the foreclosure housing market and an unnamed absolutely adorable Spanish style home listed for 78 thousand (my heart breaks), I am working on a term paper tentatively titled “Portraiture of Childbirth and Mother Child Mortality in Renaissance Florence”.  Christine pointed out that my topic specificity is kinda humorous, and I agree.  But you gotta narrow things down, or you’ll go crazy.

Giant Rock and Joshua Tree

Friday, May 29th, 2009

This week has gone by so fast.  Just really quick I wanted to post some pics from last weekend, where all us grads went to Joshua Tree and it was sooooo nice.  Too bad it was only 2 days!  But it was enough of a landscape change to transport me to another place mentally.  It’s nice when that works out that way.  No more eye twitching!  I just noticed today.

That was at the Integratron where something funny happens with sound, because it’s a circular building.  We lied down while the man made sounds on the crystal bowls.

This is where we stayed, at Jill’s studio that felt like part home part spa, complete with outdoor shower and semi-outdoor tub.  It was so nice!

That was her neighbor, just across the street, so as you can imagine, we had a lot of privacy!

She rides again

Well I am just overjoyed with this cover!  It’s so crazy to be in my studio, (sometimes, well in this case) pissed off, painting, making these little things that maybe no one in the world cares about or will ever see, and then all of a sudden, (sometime later) there it is on the cover of a newspaper that someone else did a fantastic job of putting together, and all of a sudden I’m involved in this collaboration with someone on something that I thought no one would ever even see.  The world dumps pretty hard on the arts, but it just goes to show, even a little watercolor drawing might have a life outside the moment of its creation.

New Kid’s Classes Begin Today

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Today, another round of my Drawing for Little Tots classes begin today at the Huntington Beach Art Center.  The classes are for ages 4-6 and we get to draw some really fun things and the kids are all such imaginative and inspired little artists.  If we could all only see the world from a five-year-olds perspective…

Also, over the weekend, I dropped off this painting at the Art Center for their upcoming Annual Auction.  There’s also these little two aesthetic only works that will be for auction.  The Meet the Artists Party is set for Friday, May 29.
