Scouting Locations

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Fellow grad student Ashley and I are Fellows for the Gluck Summer Camp and are developing a field-trip oriented day camp for teens.  We are compiling different places to visit, and I thought I would share some pics from the Badlands Landfill in Moreno Valley.  We are definitely going to take the students there, and bring our sketchbooks and cameras.  I was very excited when I saw this pile of refridgerators!

And it is always good to think about our trash, and where it goes, and all the amazing people who think of ways to help it break down with the least impact to our environment.

A Busy Little Baker

Monday, June 8th, 2009

I have been experimenting with a Gluten Free diet lately and not only have I replaced all my savory dishes with wheat alternatives, like brown rice pastas, corn tortillas, wild rices, but I have suddenly been bit by the baking bug!  I never really was into baking until I cut wheat out–and I think it has something to do with the word challenge.  Anyway, check out my GF Banana Bread, GF Chocolate Chip Cookies, and the naturally GF Date ‘N Nut No-Bake Cookies that are sooooo good!  Enjoy!

Landed in Treasury

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

It’s always nice to make it in someone’s Etsy treasury.  It means someone out there notices you…which is I suppose a very fundamental human desire…  Haha, too much coffee and I REALLY need to write this paper.  Today….working on it.

Tomorrow night is the big Auction night at the Huntington Beach Art Center!  The whole exhibition is now online and you can view here.
