The Sketchbook Project: 2011

I just found out about this in the last ten minutes and totally just ordered my sketchbook!  I love projects like these.  I even spent the extra 20 to have my sketchbook digitized because that is too cool…I loathe scanning.  Zzzzz.  Mmmmm.  Check it out and participate.  Spread the word.  Sammi you deserve better than Ronnie.

ThesisShow1

Here are some images from the MFA Thesis Show at UCR California Museum of Photography which closes Saturday, May 15th.  If you live in the area drop on by!  I have seven paintings in the show which marks my Thesis Work and it feels really good(!) to have them in there.  The space worked out for us perfectly.  Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and go you mamas!

This was my model for the layout of the show, which you can see, some things have changed, but the sentiment is still there.  Space is nice.

Happy Thanksgiving Sale!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

brooch1

I just added some new things to the shop and I thought what better time to have a sale than around now!

For the next two days, you can buy 1 print get 1 of equal or lesser value FREE! The sale will end Friday 11/27 9:00 p.m. EST.

I wish I had more time to post things….hopefully this weekend I will have time.  I have been working in my studio and I have some new work, or works in progress.  I think the color is off on the bighorn, but it’s after midnight, my fingers are frozen, and I’m already hungry again (!).

I also am including some photos of my studio in its latest state.  It’s fun to see how it changes and evolves…

Well I hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving tomorrow and gets to spend some time with those they care about. I can’t wait to see my family and to play Taboo! and Boggle!

Happy Halloween!

pumpkin

Things are busy ’round these parts…I don’t even know where to begin!  My new round of Children’s art classes started at the HBAC and I am getting more and more signs up every session!  It’s amazing.  It’s amazing to work with kids too.  My job hazards include kids falling out of their chairs (art can be really exciting), and the occasional cry because we miss mom (an hour is really long sometimes).  I’ve never heard my name called so many times in a single hour (this is the only time in life it’s ok to have 17 kids). All these things are the things I absolutely love about working with kids. All the comedians in the world should study children.

All week I’ve been getting things together for a group show at South Pasadena Arts Center that opens November 14, and tomorrow I am going to drop off some work at the Riverside Art Museum’s annual fundraiser “Off the Wall”.  Then at night is our annual Haunted House house where we get to scare the lights out of anyone who dare wants candy.

Then, this Sunday is the Sweeney Art Gallery’s First Sunday workshop event that I and fellow Grad student Ashley Landrum will conduct.  This weekend we are going to make Endangered Animal Masks and its free and open to all ages if any families live in the area!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!

Featured in Treasury!

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Yay, always excited about being in someone’s treasury.  Nikasha Designs included me in their latest treasury:

That print is something I made back in printmaking.  It’s a waterless litho that I scanned in the computer to make prints from.  I always liked this one because it has the earliest signs of me being interested in what was later to become known as the toner transfer phenomenon, which looks spittingly like this, but it isn’t. That combination of black and white illustration or image with something else just gets my heart pumpin.  And speaking of heart pumping . . . coffee time!
