You win some, you lose some

Friday, November 14th, 2008

The top of last week I lost some things–three things to be exact–that have been with me for a long, long time.  My teeth!  The recovery process is slow and soups are still the meal of choice, but I have gained some things as well. Like, for example, my air conditioner cover/plant stand!  Let me introduce you two:

I am very excited about this foray into furniture design and wood craftyness. I just keep scheming up more things to make. Notice the detail below:

I’ve also been painting and stuff, and we’ll get some photos of that this weekend. But finally I was able to plant some of my latest acquisitions and the patio is shaping up.

This next document is proof of how my cat has bad manners and how her mom enables her and even thinks she’s cute and captures it in a photo all the while she really has distaste for sleeping in, on, or near cat hair:

Hi again…

Let’s just say I’ve had quite the busy month and I’m kinda glad that November is here.  I’m ready for the cold, I’m ready for the … um… do we even get rain in Riverside?  I’m just ready for a change. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s just recap, shall we?

First there was Knott’s Scary Farm.

Then there was the Halloween Slumber Party. Yes, that’s right. Slumber Party.

Then there was actually Halloween.

Then there was bowling birthday party the day after. I gots the jazz hands.

Then there was me. And wait until you get a hold of my latest achievement in the sculpture lab…woo hoo I am in love with getting splinters! Love the wood.

Round the Studio

Here are some snippets of things I am working on.  I know the photos aren’t the greatest, with all the reflection stuff happening, but you get the idea.  And I’m really, really almost ready to show off these houses I’ve been working on forever.  But a few more days will suffice.

Also, I dropped off some work at Alpha Cult and they’re opening for “Against the Grain” is tomorrow night from 7-11p.m.  The show is comprising of all works on wood, so that is exciting!

Wood you listen up?

I have so much wood that I cut I don’t even know where to begin!  Saw blades and wood putty and sanding and then gessoing, and then oh yea, painting… Boy oh boy, I sure don’t know how just buying a couple sheets of wood at the hardware store turns into a…uh…oh I don’t know.  A full time job!

On the bright side, I did manage to get in a little watercolor action.  I am aching to go back because working on paper has such an instant gratification.  One really needs to balance out the long process art with the short process art.  These I am going to be scanning shortly and prints will be hatched in el shoppe!

Still Coloring…

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

I went to the studio yesterday and ended up mostly drawing (which is of course an activity I could have done at home, but you never know what will transpire until you get there). So some of the things I drew I plan to scan and color, and here is one little work in progress.

As you can see, there’s still a bit to go…like this here bird. When this is all said and done though, I plan to make it available in the Etsy shop!
