Hi again…

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Let’s just say I’ve had quite the busy month and I’m kinda glad that November is here.  I’m ready for the cold, I’m ready for the … um… do we even get rain in Riverside?  I’m just ready for a change. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s just recap, shall we?

First there was Knott’s Scary Farm.

Then there was the Halloween Slumber Party. Yes, that’s right. Slumber Party.

Then there was actually Halloween.

Then there was bowling birthday party the day after. I gots the jazz hands.

Then there was me. And wait until you get a hold of my latest achievement in the sculpture lab…woo hoo I am in love with getting splinters! Love the wood.

Nice hands

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Well unfortunately I don’t have time to write a normal post right now, with school and my various jobs, but this is something I wanted to share.  I went to my friend Christine’s house Saturday morning and needed to go wash my hands, and what did I find in the soap dish?  Baby hands.  I couldn’t resist looking them up lastnight and ended up buying a set for my beau (and me).  Such a genius idea.  Now we just need to see those little Barbie feet or I keep thinking about those Barbie heels.  Where have all the Barbie heel shoes gone? If you need a hand, contact Foliage.

Sew Pretty!

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Yes, I have been using the old machine to make purty things as of late, and it feels splendidly domestic. I cut out a little pattern from paper to use for this skirt.  It just consists of 6 equal size trapezoid shapes that I sew together along with a zipper.  Fun and easy!

Here is a close-up of Lily modeling the trim. Notice the green vintage slip I repurposed here as lining. I always end up getting cotton that is sort of see-through, so it is nice to get some lining in place.

I also just hung some photos in my little sewing workspace in my office.  It’s getting darling…but don’t look at the bottom–I have not cleaned everything yet!  It’s a work in progress.

I don’t have too many pin cushions–I think just these two–but I really love these.  I would love one day to have a pin cushion collection, but I have really tamed myself in the thrifting department.  I do have an apron, vintage slip, and my cat’s whiskers collections, so I think I’m good for now.

And yes! I do go outside.  I even repotted some things yesterday before the sun started melting all of creation.

Happy Labor Day!

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Some of us work harder than others, as is the case with my cat Lily.  She is exhausted from her very hard job of looking cute, grooming herself, and begging to go outside only to come back in 3 seconds later. Therefore, this little worker is spending her labor day in bed.  On a towel.  Don’t ask.  Some cats just prefer terry cloth.  I always call it her magic carpet.

Me, on the other hand, have had some recent visits with girlfriends Ramona and Christine, and we have done some creative things.  Like suddenly everything in my life needs to have ric rac, including you.

For cost efficiency, I have begun with skirts that I made:

But my favorite thing so far about this weekend, is making yummy food with my honey, who also shares the same appreciation for food:

And we’re also watching Friends which is great too.  We started at Season 1 and are going through the whole shebang.  Right now we’re already a couple seasons in, and just waiting for Monica and Chandler to come out with their relationship to everyone.  We’re always like, ok one more episode…

A Weekend of Projects

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

I finally had some time to finish these prints that are now in the Etsy shop. I have labored in front of this computer for so many hours, I’m not sure if I know how to walk anymore! But alas, I’m ready to do some of my around-the-house projects I set out for myself this weekend, which includes but is not limited to: steel wool an old birdcage and repaint it, finish my shaped wood pieces at the woodshop at school, start working on my little houses and owls (oh, you don’t know about those yet do you?), and make curtains for my office windows. Oh, and I should probably eat too. I’ll be going to Disneyland Monday so I should probably get some rest too.
